I led the creation of the first-of-its-kind Youth Summit (later rebranded to Youth Innovation Conference) at the Tom Tom Founders Festival in 2016. I served as the lead event designer, community organizer, and manager for four years. The event brought in an average of 700+ student attendees and chaperones for a daylong celebration of youth creativity. I led a participatory design process with a Student Advisory Committee and Educator Stakeholder Committee to collaboratively plan the event each year. Through this process, we developed the event itinerary, marketing plan, travel logistics, and more. The programming over the years included: the Virginia Governor signing a bill about youth entrepreneurship into law, a keynote conversation with the co-founder of March for Our Lives, a passion project expo, student performances, pitch competitions, and social impact challenges. The event was made possible through partnership with the Tom Tom Foundation, the Education School at the University of Virginia, my nonprofit, ReinventED, and other community sponsors.
