I’ve experienced all sides of youth voice work, from being a student voice myself to serving as Director of Campaign Strategy at national Student Voice, to being the adult in youth-adult partnership work. I’ve also experienced everything in between, including acting as a “near-peer” supporter, a college student teaching my own experimental education innovation curriculum, and a young professional “reverse mentor” for district leaders. My nonprofit led workshops, focus groups, and interviews with 550+ students to hear their perspectives on the future of education for a top 50 XQ Super School finalist application and a 2016 report co-authored by students summarizing insights from focus groups responding to the Virginia Profile of a Graduate.
